The Potentate’s Trip has come and gone. It was a Fall Foliage Cruise up the East Coast. We went
to Portland, Maine; Bar Harbor, Maine; St. John, New Brunswick, Canada; and Halifax, Nova Scotia,
Canada. The foliage co-operated as the leaves were beautiful. The New England seafood was very
good, and we enjoyed it as often as possible. We visited New York City and stayed in a hotel across
the street from the World Trade Center Memorial, which was a very moving experience.
Grand Master, Corky Grigsby and Grand Marshall, Robert Vincent and his wife, Nancy visited
Akdar for our October business meeting. We were also honored with the presence of 3 Past Grand
Masters: Most Worshipful Glen Almy and his Lady Sue; Most Worshipful Ron Chambers and his
Lady Pam; and Most Worshipful Gary Beisly and his Lady Carolyn. My Thanks to all who attended.
We had a great crowd.
We have finished phase 4 of changing our lights at the temple to led. Thanks to Noble Pat
Calabro’s hard work and organizing these projects. We need to also thank the Mini-Kars and Big
Wheels for donating the funds to purchase the lights. This should help save electricity and the
expense of new bulbs.
Our Fall Ceremonial is November 17, and the absolute deadline for petitions is our November 8, Business Meeting. Plan to attend
the Ceremonial and support our new nobles. Please remind the new candidates, that their lady is welcome to join you for lunch, then
we will have a fun, fall-type craft to make while the men are in session. After the men are finished, the ladies will join the men for our
Fezzing Ceremony and more.
Noble Joe Haynes has scheduled his 5th Annual Fish Fry and Toy Drive at the Shrine Center, Saturday, November 24, the
Saturday after Thanksgiving. Just bring a toy or two appropriate for sponsored children 12 years and older, and enjoy all
you can eat delicious fried fish, beans, corn bread, dessert and more.
Plans are in the works for our Shrine Kids Christmas Party at the University of Tulsa, Sunday, December 9th.
Please make plans to help us decorate, setup, serve refreshments, and of course, cleanup.
